One of my favorite labs to do with students is the gummy bear lab. I love to see the expressions on the students' faces when they see what happened to their bears after the bears sit in water overnight. They nearly triple in size due to water gain and very little color leaches out. This year we tried various liquids; kool-aid, saltwater, vinegar and Sprite. They had about the same reaction in Kool-Aid as they did in the water. No change at all in saltwater or vinegar and very little change in Sprite. Cool Lab!Saturday, February 7, 2009
